Diana Louise McClendon, a friend to many, a mentor to dozens and an admired and respected person by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her, departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Kidney and Heart Disease.
She was born on July 18, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Eugene Ervin Davis, Sr. and Hattie Laura Summerall. As a youth, she grew up in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville and graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School.
After graduation, she worked for the Kmart Corporation for 25 years and was employed by Publix Supermarket for 10 years. Later, she expanded her education by attending the Heritage Institute and became a certified Pharmacy Technician. Diana married Paul McClendon on June 28, 1982, they were married for 42 years.
Diana loved Jesus and she was a devout Christian. She was a faithful, contributing member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Kelvin L. Lewis, Pastor. She had the gift of making everyone feel like family, constantly making it a point to check in on people and was always a source of positivity and encouragement. She had a soft spot for those in need or for anyone who was just plain lonely.
Diana’s friends describe her as nothing but kind, loving, caring, warm, awesome and wonderful. She lived her life to the fullest, despite her many challenges. However, her greatest accomplishment was her love for her family: her husband, Paul, whom she cared for faithfully despite her own health challenges and the gift of being a mom to Petrina.
Diana was predeceased by her parents, Eugene Ervin Davis, Sr. and Hattie Laura Davis; and her brothers, Eugene Ervin, Jr. and Raymond Burney. She leaves to mourn her husband of 42 years, Paul McClendon; daughter, Petrina; siblings, Vivian, Carl (Grace), Gerald, Gilbert and Calvin (Pearl); grandchildren, Camoya Steer, Micah Steer and Paul Xavier McClendon; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
