Mrs. Doretha Peterson was born on April 30, 1930 in Cook County, Georgia to the late James and Betty Cooper. She later moved to Pano, Georgia where she birthed six children, Areatha Cooper, Robert Cooper, Annie McKane, Martha Lee Peterson, Eddie Lee Tyler and the late James Jr.
In 1962 Doretha then made her way to Jacksonville, Florida with Erestine and Arlester Tisby and never looked back. She became a part of the of Tisby, Thomas and Banks families and has been a part of their family since coming to Jacksonville. She was well loved on the Southside of Jacksonville and was known to everyone by “Cuz”.
Her favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11-13: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
God saw fit to send His angel of death into the room of Doretha Peterson with its love and tender care to relieve her from the troubles of this world. On Monday, January 4, 2021, Doretha Peterson entered into her eternal rest to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Cuz leaves to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories, a host of family and friends, including her grandchildren, LaWanda Peterson and LaRonnie Peterson; one great grand. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
