Dr. Shaunmonique "Shaun" Clark was born on June 23, 1980, to Billy King and Mildred Clark. She attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, and graduated with the Class of 1998. She continued her studies at the University of North Florida before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida A&M University (FAMU).
Driven by compassion and a deep commitment to others, Dr. Clark pursued a career in medicine. She earned a Master's degree in Health Service Administration from St. Joseph's College of Maine and went on to serve as a physician for over 15 years. Her dedication to care and her empathetic spirit made her a highly respected figure in the medical community.
Later, her passion for innovation and discovery led her to transition into medical research. As a Program Director at the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center-a national leader in oncology-Dr. Clark worked tirelessly to advance cancer research and seek new cures.
Dr. Clark was called from labor to reward on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Known for her excellence, integrity, and radiant smile, she touched countless lives. A beacon of kindness and love, her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Nicholas Pilgrim; her parents, Billy King and Mildred Clark; her brother, Marcinya Clark; her sisters, Shannon Clark and Shauntina Clark; her parents-in-law, Avery and Carolla Pilgrim; and her brothers-in-law, Chauncey and James Pilgrim.
Dr. Clark leaves behind a wealth of cherished memories and love, shared with her nieces, Markenya Smith (Brandon), Markeysia Clark, Markeyonia Smith (Daniel), Kendra Clark, Eri'yanna Jones, Emoni Jones, and Keisa Williams; cousins; aunts and uncles, Jackie King, Ricky King, Isaac King and Henry King; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles, Pinkie Lee, Charles King, Orsby King, Maurdean Graves, and Freddie Johnson.
