Dr. Toresa Walls, a beacon of kindness and a devoted educator, departed this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born on March 12, 1957, in Palatka, Florida, to Willie Mae Smith and John Walls, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her siblings, Jeremiah Walls and Yvonne Walls.
Dr. Walls dedicated her life to nurturing the minds of young learners as a Media Specialist for Elementary Schools, where her talent for engaging children and fostering a love for learning shone brightly. Throughout her career, she transformed school libraries into magical spaces of exploration and discovery, inspiring countless students to reach for their dreams. Her commitment to education was matched only by her warmth and caring nature, traits that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
An alumna of local schools, Dr. Walls pursued her passion for learning and earned a PhD, demonstrating her belief in the power of education to change lives. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Walls was a loving mother to her children, Sukaria Landers and Larry Walls, and a cherished grandmother to Corahn A. Landers and Christian "AJ" Landers. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy will forever be carried on in their hearts.
Dr. Walls is survived by a loving family that includes her siblings, Janet Walls, Mae Crandell, Margaret Patti, Gwen Blair, Edward Walls, Moses Walls, and Jonathan Walls. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends who will miss her gentle spirit and the light she brought into their lives.
Her hobbies and interests reflected her loving and kind personality. Dr. Walls was known not only for her intellect but also for her ability to connect with others on a personal level. She embraced life with open arms and left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Dr. Toresa Walls will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in peace.
