Eartha Lee Rouser

Eartha “Erk” Lee Rouser, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, transitioned to glory peacefully on the evening of June 11, 2022 at 93 years old. Erk graduated valedictorian of Stanton High School Class of 1946 and was a graduate of Florida Normal and Industrial Memorial College 1960.  Erk, a Duval County educator for close to 30 years, loved her profession and her students during her tenure as a teacher at Douglass Anderson, Pine Forest and Spring Park Elementary.

Eartha was preceded in her transition by her husband, John Edward Rouser; parents, Jacob Jones and Annie Johns Jones; sisters, Pearl Kellam (Lawrence) and Lucille Merritt; and brother, John L. Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory 1 deeply beloved son and only child, Sylvester Reddick (Pamela); 4 grandchildren, Shawyn Reddick, Sean Reddick, Brandi Reddick and Alaina Reddick; 1 great-grandchild, Devante Jackson; sister, Delores Jones (Cody); and brothers, Jacob Jones, Jr. (Madge) and Maurice Jones (Mary); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of students that she joyfully educated.
