Elder Arthur Lee Jackson, Sr. “Pete” was born July 4, 1924 to the parents of Jessie and Annie Jackson in Macon, Georgia. He attended the local schools in Macon, Georgia, Miami, Florida and Jacksonville, Florida.
Arthur was united in marriage to Gladys Nathan Taylor on December 7, 1944. He was employed by Seaboard Coastline Railroad which later changed to Amtrak as a chef cook for more than 40 years when he retired. He was a member of New Beginnings Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Korey C. O’Neal, Sr. Pete was a member of the Mosaic Lodge and loved to build. He was a jack of all trades.
Arthur Lee Jackson, Sr. quietly slept away to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Jackson; mother, Annie Jackson; daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson; grandson, Ricky Lamar Jackson; brothers, Charles Jackson and Ernest Jackson; and sister, Marie Clark.
Pete leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Gladys Jackson; eight children, William Mundle, Audrey Williams, Cynthia Jackson, Arthur Jackson, Jr. (Marilyn), Sandra Hicks (John), Erik Jackson, Marsher Boyd (Raymond) all of Jacksonville, FL and Gwendolyn Singleton (Hank) of Charleston, SC; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; five sisters, Jessie White of Atlanta, GA, Jackie Fell of Brooklyn, YN, Lillian Hightower (Sammie) of Jacksonville, FL, Leila Sylvan of Brooklyn, NY and Sarah Lee (Freddie) of Far Rockaway, NY; two brothers-in-law, Vincent Taylor (Joyce) and Walker Taylor (Viola); one sister-in-law, Lucretia Jones (Carl) all of Jacksonville, FL; godchildren, Chantal Jones-Gagarin, Karen Chester and Cameron Bennett, The Connor’s Family of Charleston, SC, Mary Lewis (Henry-Deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and sorrowing friends.
