Eddie Louis Elvord, March 15, 1952, born to Edward Leonard Elvord and Beatrice Jenkins Elvord in Marshall, Texas. Elder Elvord graduated from East High in Madison, Wisconsin, learned paralegal skills in the United States Navy, Studied Counseling Psychology at Liberty University, and achieved the certification of addiction recovery specialist from the State of Florida.
Elder Elvord held many jobs serving the public throughout his life from a Yoeman in the United States Navy, paralegal for many organizations to include the Jacksonville Urban League, and Recovery Peer Specialist with the Florida Department of Children and Families. Elder Elvord’s greatest achievement came from being elevated to the role of Elder at the Light in the Word Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Understanding the importance of this role Elder Elvord stayed in the word of God so he could come to the care for the members of his congregation, community, friends, and family.
Eddie was a deep lover of music, he was once the lead singer of a band called Tyme Piece, member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle core, and played multiple instruments. Known for his second tenor baritone voice, Elder Elvord has smooth voice heard during praise and worship. Moreover, Elder Elvord had a deep love for learning and focused his later years on learning more regarding psychology and the bible. These hobbies became attributes which led to him being a man who created community and made others feel welcome wherever he lived.
Eddie Louis Elvord (72) entered into rest on Friday, April 5, 2023 at his home in the Patriot Plaza. His father, Edward Leonard Elvord, his mother Beatrice Jenkins Elvord, and his brother Napoleon L. Elvord preceded him in death.
Eddie Elvord leaves behind the mothers of his three children, Margo Lorde and Janice Jackson; his daughter, Monye Elvord; his sons, Sidney P. Jackson and Ennis Elvord; nine grandchildren, Caylah Courtenay-Elvord, Sidney E.T. Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Isaiah Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Chaniah Jackson, Jaylen Elvord, Julian Elvord, Parys Elvord, and Patience Joy Mahaney-Elvord; four great grandchildren, Cassius Harris, Noah Jackson, Nior A. J. Harris, and Mia Jackson; seven siblings, Alonzo Elvord (Nicky), Alphonso Elvord (Ricky), Beatrice Elvord (Louise), Wanda Elvord, Linda Ward, Mark Elvord, and Julie Elvord; his daughters-in-law, Sherhonda Jackson, and Heather Mahaney; brother-in-law, Andrew Ward; his children’s grandmother, Josephine Roberts; long friend, Elsie Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
