Mrs. Elizabeth Houston was born on October 10, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida to Robert and Josephine Foster. She attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Stanton High School.
Liz affectionately known as “Sista” was a loyal and dedicated worker whose life was defined by service and love. A true jack of all trades, she began her career as a certified nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital. For more than twenty years, she worked faithfully with Tito’s Transportation Service before completing her career with Walgreens.
Liz was the proud matriarch of her family and a God-fearing woman who faithfully attended Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Her devotion to her faith and family was the cornerstone of her life.
Liz was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. To her family and beyond, she was a friend, confidant, prayer partner, and source of strength to all who knew her. Known for her warm spirit, she had a gift for making everyone feel special. At the same time, she wasn’t afraid to talk a little smack when needed-always with love and humor. To Liz no one was a stranger. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, faith and laughter.
Mrs. Elizabeth Houston entered eternal rest on Monday, September 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Houston, Jr.; parents, Robert and Josephine Foster; and brothers, Robert Foster, Jr. and Richard Foster.
Sista leaves her heritage of cherished memories to her children, Richard Foster, Michael Hollingsworth, Arthur Foster, Dionne Milledge (Tracy), Shawna Jenkins (Lorenzo), Samantha Houston, and Destiny Sanders Houston; sisters, Clara F. Houston (Willie) and Minnie Dawson (Don); brother, Ted Davis; special friends, Bishop Robert and Gwendolyn Brown, Wanda Lucien, Richard Bradley, Tawney Harden, Andrienna Stewart and Brenda Achi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
