Elizabeth Ann Mason Calhoun was born on August 22, 1953 to Willa Green in Bessemer, Alabama. On Friday, September 8, 2023 she was unexpectedly called to be with the Lord.
Elizabeth moved to Youngstown, Ohio with her family at a very early age. She completed her primary and secondary education in Youngstown and started her college education at Youngstown State University. Elizabeth started her professional career with State Farm Insurance in Ohio and later in Pennsylvania.
Her interest shifted to Hospitality Services as she completed an Associate Arts degree at The Art Institute of Washington and completed additional courses of study at the American Culinary Federation. Elizabeth continued to pursue related certifications completing programs at Marymount University and George Mason University.
Elizabeth had a wide family of friends, she is known for her strong faith, commitment to her church, welcoming to all, giving nature, and unwavering passion for her sons. She was a member of the Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston, Virginia for more than ten years before making Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville her true home.
In August of 1980, she married Michael Calhoun and they became the proud parents of Edward Michael Calhoun of Jacksonville and Evan Mitchell Calhoun of Orlando. Elizabeth also had a keen interest in genealogy and has researched her ‘family tree’ extensively leaving a tremendous network of data and images for her sons to explore.
Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her mother, Willa Green; her grandparents, Robert and Rosie Brock; and her sister, Tracie Mason. She leaves behind her sons, Edward and Evan; a brother, David; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved the Lord, loved many, lost many, but was kind to all that she met in her journey through life.
