Emma Jean Cooper was born on September 18, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to the parents of Woodrow Cooper and Jessie Lee Foster who both have preceded her in death. Emma was the mother to five children, Loretta (deceased), Denise, Jerome, Tyrone and Alex (deceased).
Emma passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Emma spent the majority of her career as a bus driver for the Duval County Public School System. In her later years, she became a personal caregiver for the disabled and elderly – a vocation for which she truly enjoyed.
Her final moments were spent peacefully in the home of her niece, Antionette “Toni” Miller, who along with her sister, Linda, so graciously and lovingly cared for her until her transition. Toni and Linda, your care for our dear mother will never be forgotten.
Known for her quirky, witty personality and her love for dogs, fishing and shopping, Emma will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Emma’s family asks that she be remembered for the spice that she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her children, Denise (James), Jerome (Sandra), and Tyrone; her siblings, Leatha (Halson), Joanne, Linda, James, and Timothy; grandchildren, Artesha, Fabian, Robert, Artejus, JaMia, Taylor, Kourtney, and Jacquez; several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
