The beloved Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary was born on January 12, 1940 in Camden, South Carolina to the late James Dow, Sr. and Louise Kelly Dow. She was the fourth of eleven children. Mother Emma Jane Dow Roary received her education in Camden and Columbia, South Carolina. She has an honorary degree in “Life Education”.
Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary was united in Holy Matrimony to her Army strong husband, LeRoy Roary who preceded her in death. This union was favored with two girls and two boys.
Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary channeled her passion for cooking into her life long career. This career resulted in numerous accomplishments to include several: employee of the year and employee of the month awards. She earned the distinguish who’s who for her 33 years of loyal employment in corporate America to one company.
Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary was faithfully committed and associated with Southside Church of God in Christ for over 57 years. She received the Women Day Service Award, Good Shepherd Award and the Outstanding Achievement in Association for her life of wisdom and honor from the Golden Age Ministry. This unpretentious Mother volunteered and served on multiple boards and committees within the realm of the church. A phenomenal warrior for Christ.
Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary had a zest for life. She valued Faith, Family and Finances. Her legacy is her commitment to God, her children, her gust for continual knowledge and her impeccable style. She had a favorite saying. “Keep on Living”. This is a tribute to her mother.
God embraced Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary and she peacefully transitioned receiving her wings.
Mother, Emma Jane Dow Roary is intensely loved. Preceding her in death is Betty Dow Lewis, sister; James Dow, Jr., LeRoy Dow and Izel Dow, brothers. Her amazing memories are bestowed to Connie D. Roary, Linda R. Roary, Jackie L. Roary and Gary Roary (Hazel Marie); four fierce grandsons, Anthony D. Jones, Elder (SFC) Justin B. Roary, Karium A. Edwards, II and Kyle A. Edwards; one granddaughter, Tori Coleman (Tony); eight great grands; one great great grand; siblings, Dorothy Dow of Paterson, N.J., Shelley Dow, Mary Dow Jackson, Almeta Dow Knight, Larry Dow and Joyce Dow of Columbia, S.C.; in-laws, Edward Roary of Baltimore, MD, Howard Roary (Eloise) of Augusta, GA., Allen Roary of St. Petersburg, FL, Paul Roary of Charlotte, N.C., Grant Roary (Brenda) of Columbia, S.C., Jessie Bell Sowell of McBee, S.C., and Albertha Roary of Marin City, CA; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, two bonus daughters, aunts, uncles, church family, nurses, Fresenius (Golden Girls) and friends.
