Emmalene Brown Obituary

Emmalene Terrell was born on July 16,1935 to Sandy Terrell, Sr. and Emmaline Douglas Terrell at Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She attended Jacksonville Beach Elementary School #144, Douglas Anderson High School, and graduated from New Stanton High School in 1953.

Emmalene met the love of her life John W.C Brown (“Johnny”) from Cleveland, OH who was stationed at Mayport naval base in the Beaches area. As a military wife she traveled to The Philippine Islands and across the United States. Emmalene and Johnny had 4 children, Sandi Brown, Torin Brown, Audyne McGahee, and Chet Brown (Crystal). She and her children later returned to Jacksonville Beach. Upon her return she reunited with family and her home church. Emmalene and her children were active in the church. She joined the Women’s Missionary Society, sung in the choir and was a class member. She worked in hospitality and retired early from Ponte Vedra Inna & Club for health reasons. She became a stay-at-home “Granny” to her grands and great grands. Until recently, she enjoyed going to the Gail Baker Center for various activities with other seniors in the community. She loved spending time with family and her favorite pastime hobby was playing BINGO. Emmalene was known for telling it like it is, but she loved and was loved by everyone. She will be greatly missed.

After a recent period of illness, Emmalene transitioned from this earthly realm to her eternal home on Friday, January 21, 2022 with her oldest daughter at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Sandy Terrell, Sr.; husband, Mr. John W.C. Brown; brother, Sandy Terrell, Jr.; companion, Johnny Melton; and all aunts and uncles.

“Gone from our sight, but never our memories, gone from our touch, but never our hearts. Cherishing her life and memory: The Family
