Estelle was born to the late Melvin and Ella Mae Hackman in 1943 in Sullgent, Alabama. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida. She worked at Baptist Medical Center for over thirty years in dietary. She loved working with people.
Later she went back to school and earned her high school diploma from Florida Community College of Jacksonville. She was a Deaconess and Treasurer at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church for many years. She loved to travel, take cruises, and see different places. She led an exercise class for the seniors at Edward Waters College and would spend time at Mary Singleton. She later joined The Sister Hood of Love for Sunday’s brunch.
Estelle was preceded in death by her daughter, Winda A. Bankhead; and grandson, Eltonia L. Humphries, Jr.
Estelle leaves to cherish her loving husband, Deacon Leroy Brown of fifty-two years; sons, Tommie Bankhead, Daryl Brown (Gina), Dion Brown (LaToya) and Leroy Brown, Jr.; daughter, Tami Brown; grandchildren, Willie Turner, Antonio Neal, Keyor Cunningham, but affectionately known as Nan to Talia McClendon, Jawan Brown, Kei Brown, Latisha Brown, Mayuri Brown, Daryl Brown, Kaz La Day Brown and Isiah Brown; eleven great grandchildren; two bonus sons, Alphonso McClendon, Jr. and Robert Golden, Jr.; A host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
