Eula Hullum, affectionately known as "MaRock," laid her crown at the Lord’s Feet peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 84. Born on July 29, 1940, in Greenwood, Mississippi, Eula was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Willard Wade and Betty Mae Brown and grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
Eula's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Joe Hullum, as well as her mother, father, three brothers, three sisters and beloved step-father, Louis Brown. Despite these profound losses, Eula's spirit remained unyielding, and she was a pillar of strength for her loved ones.
Eula was a devoted mother, survived by her three daughters, Ramona Williams, Renee Childs (Jimmy), and Roshanda Hullum (Victor). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ebony, Jasmine, Trevon, Jimmy Jr. and Taylor, as well as her great-grandchildren, Jailyn, Kai, and Elliana. Each of them carries a piece of her heart and spirit within them.
A lifelong learner and supporter of education, Eula served as a foster grandparent at Lorenzo Smith Elementary School, where she touched the lives of many children with her warmth, kindness, and guidance. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was matched only by her dedication to her faith and community. She was also a cook at Carver Elementary School and Holmes Junior College. Eula was a proud member and Mother of the Church at Wilson Memorial Church of God in Christ and also a New Partner at Forward Christian Center. Through her leadership and example, she inspired countless individuals and instilled a sense of hope and purpose in the lives of others.
Eula's family extended beyond her biological relatives. She remained closely connected to her eight loving siblings, Alex Brown (Tina), Dorothy Brown, Cora Gaddy (Claude), Helen Brown, Ruthie Johnson, Lillie McCall, Willard "Boss" Wade, Jr. and Isaiah Brown. Together, they shared laughter, tears, and countless memories, supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. Eula also cherished her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a circle of beloved foster grandparenting friends who enriched her life with joy and companionship.
Eula Hullum's legacy is one of love, resilience, and community. She will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her unwavering faith and dedication to helping others. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family, and she leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eula "MaRock" Hullum will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
