Eva Carswell Foston

Eva was born December 28, 1950, in Allendale, South Carolina to Thomas Ritter and Gladys Lovette. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she attended public school and graduated from New Stanton Senior High School class of 1968.

Eva had a heart for service and worked diligently for Worman’s Bakery before retiring after ten plus years. During the remaining time of her earthly life, she worked many years providing private in-home care and loving assistance to many clients. Clients Jimmy and Benita Boyd and Judge Jerry Funk became extended family. Service to others was the daily inspiration that continued to be the focus of her life.

Eva's Christian journey began at an early age being baptized in Allendale, South Carolina. She was currently a member of New Life Fellowship Church under the leadership of Bishop Roland Baker. Eva was married to Robert D. Foston for more than twenty-three years. Together they nurtured their children, grandchildren, great-grands, other family members and many friends. Their home was a gathering place for friends and family to relax and enjoy.

She was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Conchita Allen; sister, Bertha Hoover; and brother, Tommie Ritter.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Foston; bonus father, Lonnie Ervin, Sr.; daughters, Konasha Wilcox (Mark) and Tiffani Foston; grandchildren, Esteban Burroughs, Pierra Burroughs, Quindares Sampson, Kaniyia Mable, Tamia Foston and Kiyomi Wilcox; great grandchildren, Tyquan Burroughs, Kimbreah, Burroughs, Zha’yun Burroughs, and Zha’Yunna Burroughs; brothers, Lonnie Ervin, Jr. (Cynthia) and Fitzgerald Ritter, sisters, Sara Doe, Amy Huffman (Bernard), Claretha Ritter, Verna Rivers, Carolyn Griffin (Michael), Althea Logan and Vanessa Jones (Carl); sisters-in-law, Juanita Simmons and Wanda Foston; special friends, Brendisha Gallon and Valerie Ervin; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
