Evangelist Marilyn Singleton Obituary

Evangelist Marilyn Ruby Williams Singleton was born August 6, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Reverend John Ewing and Missionary Ethel Lee Collins. She was raised by her grandparents, James and Ruby Williams. Marilyn attended the local schools of Duval County, graduating from Matthew W. Gilbert, Class of 1963. She worked for Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) as an educator. Marilyn truly loved and had a passion for children. She retired from DCPS after 30 years of service. In 2015, she graduated from Florida Theological College under the leadership of Dr. Aloysious Denard.

Marilyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a member at Faust Temple Church of God in Christ where she served in many auxiliaries such as the usher board and choir. She later joined Deliverance Church of Our Lord Jesus under the late Bishop Aaron Mobley, Sr. where Bishop Reginald Chever Sr. now presides. There she served as president of the Pastors Aide Board, sung in the missionary choir and as a missionary, served at nursing homes around the city of Jacksonville. In doing this service God called her home.

Marilyn was passionate about her family and always tried to make sure she let everyone know she loved them. She was also passionate about sending cards and scriptures to inmates and did it faithfully.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Joe Louis Singleton, Sr.; and her only son, Joe Louis Singleton, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her many precious memories, her daughters, Sandra Cook (Victor), Joann Mitchell (Ernest), Veronica Singleton and LaTashia Small; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Clark-Singleton; grandchildren, Tiana Cook, Jonathan Cook, Tiffany Cook, Tierra Cook, Santerrica Boyd (Perry), Gerald Mitchell, Dejuan Perdue, Javon Perdue, Krystle Belton (Terrell Sr.), Joe Singleton, III, Khaylin Small, Derrick Small, Jr., Candice Chever (Timothy), Jamari Tyson and Kelis Capers; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; adopted daughters, Joann Carson (Marcel), Tanisha McHelen (Kenneth) and Dawn Mathews; siblings, Lula Cross (Herbert), Raymond McNair, Lonnie McNair (Denise), Shirley Borden, Janice Sheffield, Ulysses Sheffield, Malinda Green (James), Retha Wright, Jacqueline McNeal, Gloria Spencer and Dwayne Jones (Latoya); aunt, Mother Cleo Vining; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and spiritual children.
