AMerican Veteran 10

Frazier McClain, Sr.

June 6, 1946 ~ November 9, 2020 (age 74)

On Monday, November 9, 2020 Frazier McClain known and loved by all as “Ted” surrounded by his family peacefully went home to be with the Lord.  He was a wonderful man.

Frazier was born to the late Ruth White and Coley McClain on Thursday, June 6, 1946 in Callahan, Florida.  Ted was reared by his paternal grandmother, the late Mary Holloway.  As a young toddler she would often be seen pulling him in a wagon on their way to church.  He was a member of the Pine Forest Community School graduating Class of 1966.  Ted joined the United States Army and served almost three years, upon completion of his tour he attended Florida Community College of Jacksonville where he studied Air Conditioning and Refrigeration for two years.

He met and married his wife, the former Deborah Hamilton and to this union six children were born. Three additional children were reared in the McClain home, Allan McClain, Jermaine Horne, and Glen Wright. Ted loved and supported his wife and children endlessly and showed it in multiple ways.

Ted was employed at the Jacksonville Port Authority for several years.  Upon the closing of this employer he began a supervisor position for LBJ Enterprises.  He was an innovative craftsman that was always there whenever his family needed anything fixed or constructed.  Ted enjoyed fishing and recently went with his best friend of over forty years, Thomas Wilson. He liked jazz music, Marvin Gaye, and watching the television show National Geographic.  Ted was a fan of the Florida Gators and Miami Dolphins.  However, when the Jacksonville Jaguars came to town, he pledged his loyalty to them.

Waiting in heaven to greet him; parents, Ruth Woods (John) and Coley McClain; siblings, Constance Woods, Charlotte Ingram, Pecolia Williams, Theodore Jones, Sr., and Sherman Roberts; and grandparents, Mary Holloway, Leola White and Willie White.

He leaves to cherish his memories, loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Deborah McClain; children, Frazier McClain, Jr., Tangi Melton (Anthony), Katina Williams (Terry), Alice Herring (Stephan), Yolanda Davis (Corey), and Chelsea McClain; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jennifer Singleton, Johnnie Mae Brown (Paul), Vanessa Gail Terry (Daryl), Belinda Kendrick, Leola Woods, Aileen Humphries, Elease Woods, John Woods, Jr. (Lorraine), and Janice Dorn; aunts, Joann Cooper, Elizabeth Simmons and Lois Ann Hare-Bey; step-mother, Maybelle McGriff; special and devoted aunt, Dollie Mae Wright; godchildren, Terry McGriff, Jr., Yolanda Armstrong, and Kiyana Butler; in-laws, Ellis Horne, Sr., Denise Smith (Bobby), Lee Woods, Deloris Jones, and Wanda Roberts; best friend, Thomas Wilson; and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
