With gratitude for a life anchored in faith, love, and service, we celebrate the homegoing of Geraldine L. Day Davis, affectionately known as “Lene” who answered the Master’s call, stepped into eternal rest and the joy of reunion with her Savior on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Geraldine was born on July 14, 1940, the eldest of six children to the late James Robert Day and Mozelle Zephree Mattox Day in Elberton, Georgia. She had five siblings, two of whom preceded her in death: Gail Day and Johnny Day.
Geraldine and John L. Davis, Sr. were united in Holy Matrimony, and were blessed with two daughters, Murika Davis and Myranda Davis, adding to the plentiful Davis clan, which included cherished bonus children: Gilbert, John Jr., Pheodosia “Ann,” Mark, Aundrea “Tony,” Sonya, Kimberly, and the late Rodney.
She grew up in the Methodist Church, beginning at Downers Grove in Elberton, Georgia, and later served faithfully at Fort Street Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Her life was marked by devoted evangelistic and intercessory ministry, which she carried out with passion and purpose.
Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Murika Davis of Jacksonville, FL, and Myranda Davis of Alpharetta, GA; her treasured granddaughter, Skylar Myranda Davis of Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Cecil Day (Hannelore) of Decatur, GA, Freddie Day (Cathy) of Jacksonville, FL, and John Day of Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Edna Day of Clear Oaks, CA; brother-in-law, Sorelle Sorrells of Monroe, GA; and heart-adopted children, Jeffrey and LaDessa Mitchell of Lawrenceville, GA.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Faydra Edwards (Michael), Markis Sorrells (Norie), Cecillia Day, Michael Day (Kristy), Alicia Day and Willie Day; extended family, The Johnson Family and The Mazion Family; and a host of devoted relatives and friends.
Though Geraldine has departed from this earthly life, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. We rejoice in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and surrounded by heavenly grace.
