Gilbert R. Wright

Mr. Gilbert Richard Wright affectionally known as “Gip” age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was born to the late Gilbert and Florida Wright on October 28, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a graduate of Douglas Anderson High School. He joined the United States Air Force and served a tour in Vietnam. He was active in the VFW.

Gilbert was a member of Wayman Temple AME Church, 8855 Sanchez Road under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Mark L. Griffin. In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by his loving sister, Joan A. Davis.

Gilbert is survived by his loving sons, Gilbert R. Wright, Jr. of North Carolina and Alan Corley; two granddaughters, Kitiara L. Wright and Givonne Queen Wright; great grandson, Kyran Richardson; one brother, Herbert O. Wright (Lana); six sisters, Clanzell W. Johnson, Jacqulyn Chandler, Carolyn Hughes (David), Arthuree Knox (Douglas), Deborah Dugger and Sheryl Taylor (Paul); and s host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed by many friends and the community.
