Gloria Thompson Obituary

Ms. Gloria Thompson was born April 15, 1945, to the late Jim Thompson and Elouise Strigglers Shubert. She attended the local schools, graduating from Stanton High School in 1963.

She was a dedicated servant of the Lord, starting her church membership at Mt. Bethel, then becoming a member of Mt. Sinai and finding her permanent church home becoming a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church until she became ill.

Gloria loved the Lord and shared the Gospel with whoever she could. Gloria lived her life so that others could walk in a way that was holy and acceptable to the Lord. She demonstrated this by serving in various capacities such as a Sunday School teacher, teacher at vacation bible school, participant in the Golden Age Ministry, and serving on the Usher board and in the choir. She believed that cleanliness was next to Godliness and took pride and making sure her home and her surroundings were spic and span. After her immediate family members visited her on Sunday, January 14, 2024 and surrounded her and covered her in prayer she passed seven days later Sunday, January 21, 2024, peacefully.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lonne Strigglers, George Strigglers, Jerry Thompson, Geraldine Thompson, Eddie Shubert, Alvin Shubert, Bobby Shubert, Doris Bellinger, and Elouise (Renee) Hall; and her grandson, Darius Thompson.

She leaves to cherish in her memories, her son, Terry Thompson, Sr. (Marshayle); her siblings, Linda Shubert, Norma Jones (Eddie) and Donald Shubert (Tracy); close cousin, Barbarba Jean Mitchell; her grandchildren, Terry Jr., Robert, Ashja, Taryn, Amaude, Noah, Latavious, Patience, Pagel, and Parish Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowful family and friends.
