Gregory Charles Church, Sr., the second oldest of the late Helen Francis Church and Desmond Everett Bailey, was born January 2, 1954, in Salisbury, Maryland. He received his education in the public schools of Wicomico County, and attended Job Corp.
Gregory enlisted into the United States Navy, 24 years of service and retired in 1996, as Chief Master-at-Arms. After retirement he continued his career path with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Allied Universal Security and Custom Allied Universal Security Protection Division with the Chamberlin University of School of Nursing.
Gregory was known for his intelligence, loving personality, compassion and dedication to his entire family. Gregory met the love of his life, Cynthia Parker in 1976 and three years later they became as one, a loving couple of 44 years. His passion for service, leadership, dedication, commitment to helping others and mentoring those in need exemplified the essence of the man that God created him to be.
Gregory was an active member of New Life Community, UMC for many years and most recently, he rededicated his life to Christ, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Lamont Hogans.
Gregory departed this life on Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by his great grandchild, Alari; mother, Helen Church; father, Desmond Bailey; sister, Violet; brother, Virgil; and in-laws, Bessie and Lessel Parker, Sr.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Cynthia Church; step-mother, Donna Bailey; four children, Tokiya Ball, Gregory Charles Church Jr., Shaniqua Church and Desmond Church; grandchildren, Xaiver, Isaiah, Shakeria, Devin, Mariah, Alayah, Tyshaun and Olivia; seven great-grandchildren; special goddaughter, Alexis; loving sisters, Deborah, Aundra (Wayne), and Shanta; six loving sisters-in-law; three devoted brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and many more caring relatives and friends.
