Gregory Bernard Denmark

Gregory Bernard Denmark was born February 21, 1952, to Dan Demark and Elouise Hutchins Denmark. He was the younger brother of his sister, Bonnie, who was now the stepdaughter to Dan Denmark.

Gregory attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Raines High School in 1969. Shortly after graduating from Raines, he was accepted into the Bell and Howell training program in Atlanta, Georgia. When Gregory completed the program, he remained in Atlanta and was employed by the Western Electric Company as a technical engineer.

While living in Atlanta, Gregory met and married Bernadette Baker, who was originally from Jacksonville and had moved to Atlanta with her family. Although there were no children born to this union, Gregory became a caring and devoted “father figure” to many of the nephews and nieces from Bernadette’s family. After taking an early retirement in 2014, Gregory began working part-time with UPS.

For more than 30 years Gregory was a faithful member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Church where he served in various capacities. For more than 20 years he was an official with the Georgia High School Football and Volleyball Association, officiating just about every type of high school sports games. He was also instrumental in encouraging two of his nephews to become sports officials.

In 2021 Gregory retired from UPS and made the decision to finally move back to Jacksonville to help his sister, diagnosed with cancer, care for her disabled husband. Even though Gregory had medical issues of his own, he helped his sister in every way possible until Monday, June 29, 2026, the day he quietly slept away.

Preceding him in death were his father, Dan, and his mother, Elouise. Leaving to mourn his passing but cherish his memories are his sister, Alpha Brannon, affectionately known as Bonnie, his aunt, Talitha Hutchins Portee, several cousins, special cousin, Alfred Williams, goddaughter, Briana Brewley, godson, Jonathan Sparrow, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
