Harriet Denise Gather

Harriet Denise Gather, was born on February 22, 1959 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Sidney Gather and Mary Lou and Henry McKinnon. She attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Paxon Senior High School class of 1977. She furthered her education at Jones Medical College for several years.

Harriet employment history includes, telemarketing, banking, community transportation and lastly a secretary for Edwards Waters College. She was a member of New Life Ministries in Fitzgerald, Georgia and Summerville Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She enjoyed attending church, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known to her family and friends as “Boss Lady”.   

Harriet Denise Gather slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her paternal father, Sidney Gather; grandmothers, Melvini Brown and Tiny Sams; and great grandmother, Mary Lou Delmer.

Boss Lady leaves to cherish her memories, her three children, Terrence R. Jennings (Destiny), Tawana D. Jennings and Tiffani N. Ford; nine grandchildren, Taiana Lowe, Taniyah Darby, Terrence Jennings, Jr., Alphonso Foster, Jr., Treasure Jennings, Zenav’ Hardy (Doll Baby), Trinity Jennings, Micah Gamble and Mikhi Gamble; five great grands, Taiveon Lewis (Mr. TDemand), Tionni Lowe (Ms. T), Tailynn Dunlap (Beautiful), Jameriah Wilkins (Sassy) and Jamoni Wilkins (Beany); parents, Mary Lou McKinnon and Henry Oliver McKinnon; siblings, Gregory Gather (Yasman), Henry O. McKinnon, Jr., Turner McKinnon (Larnise) and Kelvin McKinnon (Ann); aunt, Nadine Sams; uncle, Gary Traywick; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
