On Friday, May 8, 2026, mid-morning, the Lord took a stroll in His earthly garden looking for the perfect flower to add to His heavenly garden. As He approached the room of Brother Jacob Lamar Caine, Jr. and saw that his beautiful and faithful servant, Brother Caine was ready to transition from this life of toil and sorrow. He gently whispered in his ear and said you have fought a good fight; you have stayed your course and now it is time for you to receive your heavenly reward, come with me. With his family surrounding him, he took his final breath and was released from this world for a better home not made by hand.
Jacob, better known as “Little Jacob,” was born in Sanderson, Florida to the late Jacob Caine, Sr. and Myrtle Caine on August 20, 1946. He later relocated with his parents at an early age to Jacksonville Beach, where he attended the local schools in the area. He was employed with Fruit Growers Express as a welder for over twenty years.
Jacob accepted Christ and was a faithful member of the United Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. M. J. Halyard, until he relocated to Jacksonville Beach and his health began to fail. Jacob was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was known for his quick wit and gentle nature. He taught his children the value of hard work and how to show kindness to others. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience and laughter.
Jacob was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Caine, Sr.; mother, Myrtle Caine; brothers, Lenovie Stewart and Bernard Caine; grandparents who were a vital part of his upbringing, Walter and Mable Caine. He leaves to cherish his memories, first wife and special friend, Roberta Spencer; children, Marona and Tamika; brothers, Michael (his best friend) and Izell (baby brother); his only sister, Belinda Pressley (Donald); six beloved grandchildren, Darryl, Jamecia (Meci), Jason (Boogie Baker), Dasia, Jaiden, and Douglas; three great-grandchildren, Zaria, Jailah, and Ny’Ari; godson, Frederick Watts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
