Jamaal Beckham Obituary

“In the night of death, hope sees a star. And listening love can hear the rustle of a wing”.

Jamaal Carnell Beckham was born on September 24th 1983 to the union of Carnell “Joe” Beckham and Deanda Marlow in Philadelphia, PA. Shortly after, the family relocated to Florida.

Jamaal was educated in the Jacksonville public school district. He loved to play the drums which prompted a passion for music which began at age 7. Jamaal always kept a pair of drumsticks handy. Later, Jamaal and his brother Malik would develop Fox Five Entertainment.

At an early age, Jamaal professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Impact Church, formerly Faith Christian Center where, he also played the drums and help to orchestrate the musical sounds for our Heavenly Father.

Jamaal was an amazing and proud father who treasured his daughters and embraced every moment with them. He cherished this role most.  Jamaal had a vivacious personality; bright smile and an ability to make people laugh. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant character, he was loved by many.

Jamaal’s indomitable spirit encouraged his family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Jamaal himself was a business owner; hardworking, intelligent, and dedicated to his craft. Jamaal was absolutely committed to family and was known to embody the phrase “family first”.  He demonstrated this passion and constantly placed others before self. He inspired many.

Jamaal was a gentle person who enjoyed life and was always available to brighten the lives of others. He thrived on the exchange of interesting and creative ideas with family and friends. Jamaal could engage in a conversation with anyone and light up their day with his smile alone.

Jamaal entered into eternal rest in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by family and loved ones on Wednesday March 13th, 2019. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. We loved him, but God loves him best.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his mother, Deanda Marlow; father, Carnell “Joe” Beckham; two daughters, Jamia and Jeria Beckham; siblings Shanika Beckham and Malik Beckham; grandparents, DeRosa Marlow and Ester Edwards; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; cousins and friends. He is predeceased in death by his maternal grandfathers, Levi Marlow and William “Brownie” Brown; paternal grandfather, Carnell Beckham Junior; cousin, Kyle Marlow; and maternal aunt and uncle, Rachel Marlow and Richard Marlow.
