Jean Augusta Hall-Tuff, was born on July 17, 1937 to the proud parents Ethel Lee Holland and Isaiah T. Hall in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the locals of Duval County graduating from Matthew W. Gilbert High School, Class of 1956.
Jean accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida. She continued her Christian walk as a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia where she served in the choir. After leaving Augusta, Georgia she became a member of The Potter’s House International Ministries (TPHIM), Jacksonville, Florida, under the leadership of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin where she served in the senior ministry.
Jean began her career with The Army Air Force Exchange (AAFES) in Europe. She continued her career stateside where she was known for her classy style (scarfs and shoes) from all around the globe. She retired from AAFES in Augusta, Georgia in 2001. She was committed to her career and devoted to her family. She nurtured lifelong friendships with many people she met during her travels. She was a member of the Live Long and Like-It Club and The College Park Garden Club where she cultivated her love for plants and flowers. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling, fishing, and interior design just to name a few.
Jean Augusta Hall-Tuff slept away peacefully in to the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her son, Marc A. McCray; parents, Isiah and Ethel Holland Hall; brothers, Edward C. Hall and Lorenzo H. Hall; and sisters, Delores Hall, Barbara Hall, and Modestine H. Randall.
Jean leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her memories, her daughters, Vedra L. Tuff and Sandra F. Galvin (Craig); brother, Lary K. Hall (Patsy); grandchildren, Alfie K. Tuff, Lauren A. Coombs, and Jason C. Coombs; great grandchildren, Lavonne S. Tuff and Phoebe A. Tuff; sister-in-law, Dorothy D. Hall; nieces and nephews, Sheila Valentine, Katrina Walker (Mizell), Edward Hall Jr. (Aldria), Timothy Hall, Lorenzo Hall, Shantell Hall, Taneshia Hall, and Lary Hall Jr.; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
