Jermaine Washington Obituary

Jermaine Christopher Washington, affectionately known as “Maine” was born on August 14, 1980, in Jacksonville, Florida, and peacefully transitioned from Earth to Heaven on Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence.

Jermaine was known as a reserved and unpretentious man with few words. However, his heart was loud and expressive and he was willing to assist anyone he could.

Jermaine was educated in Duval County Public Schools. He was formally employed at North West Middle School, where all the scholars would refer to him as “the coolest school resource officer they ever had”!  He was also an inspiring member of Epiphany Lodge #660 (Mason).

Jermaine truly cherished his family. He enjoyed laughing and bonding with his son, reminiscing with his brothers, exchanging life stories with his great uncle Curtis Simpo, watching movies and spreading more love daily with his beautiful mother, creating meaningful memories with his loving grandmother, and each Christmas and summer spending time with his niece Kyla from Maryland.

Jermaine was preceded by his grandfather, Archie Simpo; and son, Jehlear Armad Baker. He is survived by his loving and supportive mother, Gwendolyn Moody; a wonderful son, Jermaine Christopher Washington, II; a bonus daughter, Jemeria A. Lembrick; a selfless grandmother, Susie Simpo O.E.S (Retired); two siblings, Leroy Washington (Crystal) and Alexander Washington; a caring and loving niece, Kyla A. Washington; a bonus niece, Kisiera McKay; three uncles, Glen Simpo (Neura), Michael Simpo and Terry Simpo (Jona); five  great aunts, Inez Newman, Gloria Christopher (Earl), Elizabeth McClendon , Janice Grogan (Reggie) and Bobbi Simpo Curry; one great uncle, Curtis Simpo; close and dear friend of the family, Glenda Reinier; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends. To know Jermaine is to love him and he will forever be in all of our hearts!
