Jessica Camella Gordon Grissett peacefully passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1966, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Thomas Arthur Gordon and Gloria Biggins.
She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and went on to receive several healthcare certifications. Jessica, affectionately known as “Ms. Jess,” dedicated more than 35 years of service to UF Health Hospital Systems. Her passion for caring for others shined brightly, and she took great pride in her work. She was known for her strong presence and direct, loving personality in the CVICU unit. Many remember her warm but firm greetings, such as “Good morning, baby,” followed by her signature reminders to speak and “please wash your hands at the sink.” Her honesty, humor, and authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Whether you loved her or not, she remained true to herself, often reassuring others with “ain’t nobody mad, it’s okay baby” or “alright darling.”
Jessica had a love for shopping and collecting treasures, which she often shared with others. She also found great joy in cooking and took pride in preparing meals and special dishes for family and friends.
Jessica was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Arthur Gordon; her loving godparents, Jimmie Brown Sr. and Eugenia Brown, who raised her as their own; brothers, Arthur Lee Davis, Louis Brown, and Kenneth Brown; sister, Gloria Thompson; aunt, Margaret Baldwin; stepfather, Michael Bryant;, her forever love, Randall Ware; and her bestie, Wanda Maynor.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Thomas Arthur Gordon Collins; her mother, Gloria Biggins Bryant; aunt, Mary Dejarnette; sisters, Patsy Chinn and Carolyn Wise; brothers, Thomas Davis, Jimmie Brown Jr., William Brown, and LeMichael Bryant Jr. (Tanisha Iman); her bonus daughter, Alexis Ware; bonus grandson, Marcquis Adams Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family from the Gordon, Chinn, Davis, Brown, Washington, Baldwin, Fleming, Watkins and Hicks families, along with many other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on in the lives she touched. Rest in love, Jessica. You are deeply missed but never forgotten. Remember, love never fails.
