Jewell Cecile Dotson

Jewell Cecile Dotson was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 6, 1941 to the late Coy and Cora Gillis. She attended the local schools of Duval County and was a graduate of Matthew W. Gilbert High School class of 1960.

Jewell was a seamstress for many years as sewing was her gift. She departed this life on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dotson, Jr.; and son, Samuel Dotson, II.

Jewell leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter, Zelda Phillips (Juan Sr.); her grandsons, Juan Phillips, Jr. and Rolando Phillips (Missy); adopted sons, Paul Dotson and James Dotson; great grandchildren, Jalen, Katelen, Gabrielle, Lauren, Jackson, Jordan, Jakobe, Paul Jr. and Paris; special cousin, Norma Green; close friend, Rosa Colbert; goddaughter, Lynn Dawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, many family and friends including her church family International BibleWay Apostolic Christian Center, and The Senior Citizens Choir of Clanzel T. Brown Community Center.
