Born September 23rd, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Joe Nathan Scott, at the age of 67. Dad passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Dad was a believer in Christ and is now in the arms of his Heavenly Father – our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In 1976, Dad graduated from Ribault Sr. High School, where he was a key player on the swim team. After graduating, he attended Florida Community College, then joined the United States Armed Forces in 1977. After serving four years in the US Army, he was honorably discharged from active duty and continued to serve in the United States Armed Forces Reserve until 1983. After leaving the Military, Dad retired as a Sergeant from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) in Corrections after 20+ years of service.
In 1985, Dad married our mom (Lisa Brown Scott) and was blessed with three beautiful children (Brittany, Jocelyn, and Jonathan). At home, Dad was a pillar of support for our family; he made sure we were all taken care of. He was a constant source of comfort, comedy, and strength, a person we could always depend on. Family was his pride and joy, and his greatest role was being a husband, father, and granddaddy for his children and grandchildren.
Dad was someone with a quiet and gentle demeanor who was very respectful of others. A passionate sports fan, he was a constant source of encouragement and support for his children and grandchildren, who also shared his love for athletics. One of his hobbies included watching football games with his family, and his favorite teams were the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida State Seminoles. However, his most loved hobby was being an Artist. He enjoyed drawing and painting portraits, and even entered his work into various art shows, which helped build a platform for his artwork and connect him with other professionals.
Our beloved Dad is survived by his children, Brittany, Jocelyn, and Jonathan; and his seven grandboys, Marcel, Parker, Brayden, Easton, Tristan, Jonah, and Ezra; mother of his children, Lisa Scott; his dad, John Scott; siblings, Susan “Anee Moo” Brown, Deborah “Aunt Pumpkin” Thompson (Harry) and Rollie “Uncle Boot” Scott (Robynn); step brother, Bruce Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Scott; brother, Willie Scott; aunt, Ardelia Hatch; niece, Ebone Scott; nephew, Markus Brown; along with other relatives and loved ones.
Our dad’s death will leave a heartache that only God can heal, but his love will leave a memory no one can steal. His legacy of love and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
