Joe Trapp, Jr.

Joe Trapp, Jr. was born on April 9, 1933, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was one of four children born to Joe and Aleatha Trapp. Upon graduation from high school, Joe set out to pursue his dream of attending Bethune Cookman College now known as Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. While Joe was enrolled in the college, he was a member of the marching band. Unfortunately, his dream was interrupted by the military draft. Joe left the college campus and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After he completed his assignment in the military Joe relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. Joe continued to pursue his love of music by participating in a local band that played at local venues around the city of Jacksonville.

Joe began his work life with Graybar Electric Company and retired after 33 years of service to them. He also held employment with Winn Dixie and Florida Community College, now known as Florida State College of Jacksonville, as a security guard until his health declined.

Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. At the time of his death on Saturday, January 15, 2022, he was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Aleatha Trapp; his brother, David Trapp; and his daughter, Ja’Nai Trapp.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, three children Jason Trapp (Dr. Marla), Jaleesa Trapp, and Jeremy Trapp (Kayla); stepdaughter, Janine Fitzpatrick; mother of his children and caregiver, Janet Fitzpatrick Trapp; siblings, Lawrence Trapp (Corine) and Deloris Harris Williams; six grandchildren, Jada Sullivan, Jason Micah Trapp, Jari Trapp, Jade Trapp, Jacey Trapp, and Jaxon Trapp; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
