Mr. John W. Fitzgerald, born on March 31, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, was tragically taken from this life on Saturday, March 14, 2026. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
John spent most of his life in Jacksonville, Florida, where he built a life grounded in resilience, purpose, and unwavering strength. He was a proud graduate of Jean Ribault Senior High School, Class of 1990, and later continued his education at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
John was the embodiment of a strong Black man—resilient, resourceful, and deeply rooted in his community. He carried himself with quiet strength, determination, and pride, navigating life with a sense of purpose and an unshakable commitment to those he loved. As a serial entrepreneur and the owner and operator of C&J Property Services, he created opportunities not only for himself, but for others, building a legacy defined by hard work, independence, and excellence.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Corliss Fitzgerald and shared a meaningful paternal bond with Derek McCullough (Tonya), whom he lovingly regarded as his father.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Fitzgerald; his sons, John Fitzgerald Jr. and Jonathan Fitzgerald (mother, Michelle); along with a host of bonus children who were blessed by his presence and guidance. He is also remembered by cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and loved ones, including special companions who held a meaningful place in his life.
John will be remembered as a provider, a protector, and a pillar—someone who stood tall in his identity, his values, and his love for his people. His legacy is one of strength, compassion, and connection. If you knew John, you knew what it meant to be seen, respected, and embraced.
