John Edward Lee, Jr. was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on August 29, 1935 to the late Mary Rose and John Edward Lee, Sr. He entered into rest on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
John was educated in the public schools of Madison Heights, Virginia. He retired from the United States Navy where he served for twenty-years using his skill and gift for cooking. He also worked as a Painter over the years. He loved getting together and dancing with family and friends. He leaves a great legacy.
John was married to Pearlie Mae Green for forty-five years. She preceded him in death. From this union they were blessed with four children, Mary Michelle Lee-Winters (deceased), Christopher Lee, Angela Smithson-Prosser (Larry) and John Lee, III.
John is also survived by his sister, Virginia Clark; seven grandchildren, Shantae Jones, Kristen Massenburg, Arsenio Smithson, Don Smithson, Amy Davis, Taeja Lee and Tristan Lee; nine great-grandchildren, Sincere Smithson, Ah’Nyla Smithson, Kassen Massenburg, Kamari Massenburg, Jada Ward, Christian Jones, Emily Brooks Lasiyah Jones and Qinn Brooks; one great-great grandchild, Bri’Lee Moseley; in-laws, Martha Young (Allen), Josephine Pitts, Ruby Peavie, Issac Green (Deloris) and Jacob Green (Devonna); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
