Sister Johnnie Mae Collins was born July 22, 1938 to the late Reverend John Wesley Heath, Sr. and the late Prophetess Amanda Heath, in Foley, Florida. She received her formal education in Jacksonville Public Schools (Long Branch Elementary and Matthew Gilbert High School), she furthered her education at FAMU in Tallahassee, Florida and Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey.
Johnnie met and married her husband, Habey Collins and to this union two sons were born, Avery Collins and Tonardist Collins. She was saved at a very young age in Foley, Florida. She worked for many years in the medical field. Later she worked for the airline industry for several years which began the love of traveling. Once she retired, she returned home to Jacksonville, Johnnie volunteered for Jacksonville Urban League Head Start Program and MCCI Medical Group. She moved her church membership to Trumpet In Zion Fellowship, under the teaching of Apostle McCoy.
Johnnie loved to be with her family and talked daily to her sisters and brothers. Johnnie would tell many stories of her life living in New Jersey, Utah and Miami. She was greatly loved by her family and friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her son, Tonardist Collins; grandson, Adrian; and sisters, Patricia Horne and Shirley Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Avery Collins; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, John W. Heath, Jr. (Josphine) and Reubin Heath (Elaine); two sisters, Ruth Roberts and Elizabeth Wilson; special great grandson, Vonzelle Spencer; a special niece, LaCreasa Wilson; a special nephew, Bernard Wilson, Jr. “Poppy”; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
