Kathy Green Benjamin was born on November 6, 1960, to Leo and Ida Green. She was the second child of three children, growing up in the small town of Yulee, Florida (Nassau County). She graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1978. Upon completion of high school, Kathy graduated from cosmetology and dental school. She also obtained a pharmacy technician license.
As a young child in the local church, Kathy began to sing in the local church choir. Her anointed voice quickly captured the hearts of many as she began to also sing on a district and national level. Her godly grandmother Ophelia Jacobs prayed with her and taught her Holy Scriptures, seeing to it that she was constantly with her in church, teaching her by example. In 1979, as an eighteen-year-old teenager, Kathy gave her life to God. She was saved with the Holy Ghost and served diligently in the Church of God by Faith under her first pastor, Elder Willie Philips. She continued to serve under the leadership of Elder Harry Johnson until she became married and moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Kathy served at Greater Church of God by Faith, where Elder George Matthews was pastor, as burial league secretary, facilities manager and one of the greatest singers of all time.
God blessed Kathy with three children (two girls and one boy): Patreace, Demond and Amanda. As time went on, Kathy married Pastor Robert Benjamin, Sr. on September 26, 2009 in Sanibel Island. She then inherited three stepchildren: Robert Benjamin Jr., Richard Benjamin, and LaDessa Mitchell (Jeffrey).
After serving with COGBF for many years, in 2015 Kathy assisted in the startup and began serving at Beautiful Life Church as “first lady” and worship leader. Prior to her retirement she was founder and CEO of KWB Contracting, Inc. and Kathy’s Kreations. Some of her hobbies included gathering with family, shopping and crafting.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Leo and Ida Green; her husband, Robert Benjamin, Sr.; three children, Patreace Heard (Reginald), Demond Jefferson, and Amanda Jefferson; five grandchildren, Damiyah Jefferson, Kamden Heard, Karter Heard, Tristan White and Lyric Jefferson; one sister, Gwendolyn McIntyre; one brother, Leo Green, Jr. (Neko); beloved nephews, Avery McIntyre, Wesley McIntyre, Jeremy McIntyre (Tara), and Ollie McIntyre, Jr. (Rebecca) and beloved niece, Nia Green; special and devoted loved ones, Sonya May, Zandra Johnson Ross, Justin Hill, and Cecilia Forehand; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
