Katina Bruce Perry

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” Philippians 3:20-21

Katina was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 4, 1972 to her loving parents Emmett Bruce Sr. and Sadie Mae Bruce. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1990. Tina, as she was known to both family and friends, was the youngest of all her siblings. Growing up, she loved spying on her older brothers; whom she looked up to, greatly. Tina had an immeasurable devotion to family.

With her husband, Rolando Perry, Tina would later move to Atlanta Georgia, where she worked for Concentra. After living in Atlanta for several years, Katina and her husband moved back to Jacksonville.

After returning to Jacksonville, Tina began her battle to fight cancer. She never let it stop her from doing the things she loved. Katina loved cruising the Caribbean islands. She loved hanging with her best friend (bestie) Florence Mackey, whom she knew since 1st grade and her other bestie, LaTrisha Howard. But most of all, Katina loved nothing more than spending time with her nieces and nephews (her babies). She showed infinite love and endearment towards them. Tina walked closely with the Lord and continued in her faith even through her sickness and into eternity.

Throughout her life Tina has made many friends through her kind, big caring heart, and those friends have shown her support through all stages of her life. Her willingness to be everything to everyone is why people were so drawn to her. She was a pillar of light to anyone around her and when you first met her, you couldn’t help but love her. She was loved by all who were in her life and she will be missed, but her light will forever shine on through all the lives she touched while she was with us.

Katina’s sweet spirit passed away peacefully, on May 29, 2019. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her fathers, Emmett Bruce Sr. and Nathaniel Williams; sister, Maria Bruce.

Katina is survived by: spouse, Rolando Perry; mother,  Sadie Mae Bruce Williams;  brothers, Emmett Bruce Jr and  Alphonso Bruce; sisters, Maurena, Glenda, Brenda, Patricia, Natoka, and Natisha; nieces, Teria, Tiffany, Deriyana, and Miracle; nephews, LaNorris, Marquan, and Tony; God-daughter, Samaria; great-nieces, Ava and China; great-nephews, LaNorris II (Deuce) and Marquan Jr. (MJ); aunts, Alberta, Vala, Arletha, Rudine, Juanita, Lily Mae, Rhea, Mary; uncle, Terry and a host of many more cousins, extended family and friends who will greatly miss and cherish her memory.
