Leland “Lee” Robert Marcus, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by love and memories that spanned a rich and meaningful life.
Born in Queens Bridge, New York, on September 6, 1953, to Barbara and Leland Marcus, Lee was raised by Willie Cross and grew up as the eldest sibling to Shanell and Dwayne Marcus. After a brief time in the U.S. Army, Lee found his calling in finance, where he built a steady career marked by dedication and quiet leadership.
Lee was best known as a devoted husband to his late wife, Yvonne Rochelle Nathan. Their 35 years of marriage were filled with deep love, shared strength, and unwavering support. Since Yvonne’s passing in 2018, Lee carried her memory with grace.
He was a proud father to Shatay Lewis (and son-in-law Kwamane Clark Sr.), Tiffany Henry (and son-in-law Kevin “CJ” Henry), Jordan Marcus, and the late Nikisha Croom. He was a loving grandfather to Chelsea, Daniel, Kristina, and Chloe Croom; Kwamane Clark, Quanisha Clark; and Davante, Danasia, and Dallas Henry. He was also a proud great-grandfather to young Azai Clark.
Lee is survived by his daughters, Shatay and Tiffany; his son, Jordan; and his sister, Shanell. He is also survived by his beloved aunt Veronica Reese and a host of nieces and nephews including Dwayne Jr., Derrick, Tyrone, Natasha, Michelle, Messiah, Willie, Shatima, Tanel, and Divine. He is further survived by his cousins Jali, Daylen, Lashawna, and Laurell, all of whom brought joy, pride, and comfort to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Leland Marcus; his stepfather, Willie Cross; his brother, Dwayne Marcus; his daughter, Nikisha Croom; and his nephew, Brandon Marcus.
Lee will be remembered for his steady presence, warm heart, and quiet strength. He gave selflessly, loved deeply, and lived with dignity. His legacy lives on in every life he touched.
