Leland Payne

Mr. Leland Payne was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy and Erma Payne on September 15, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his formal education the local schools of Duval County, John E. Ford and Stanton Vocational High School where he ran track and played football. Leland worked for King Edward Cigar Plant. He was married to Peggy Payne until her passing.

Leland answered the Master’s call peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Payne; mother, Erma Payne; father, Leroy Payne; brother, Tommy Lee; and sister, Harriette Payne.

Leland leaves to mourn his passing, but to cherish his memories, four daughters, Eyvette Pettyway (David) of Greenville, NC, Phebe Lorjuste of Jacksonville, FL, Melanie Rucker (Leron) of Jacksonville, FL and Tabatha Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Carolyn Thomas (Elder Robert) of Palm Coast, FL; brothers, Eugene Payne of Jacksonville, FL, Charles Payne (Loretta) of Jacksonville, FL and Donald Payne of Jacksonville, FL; a special friend, Thomas Smart; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
