Linda Ray Galbreath, left this world peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 78. Born on January 16, 1947, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Linda was a beacon of love, strength, and compassion throughout her life.
Linda graduated from Manuel High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and dedicated over 30 years of her life to working at William Woods College in housekeeping, where she became known for her unwavering dedication and gentle spirit. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida—where she continued to touch lives with her kindness.
A devoted member of her faith, Linda attended Calvary Baptist Church in Fulton, Missouri, and later became an active member of Trinity Deliverance Christian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she instilled those values in her family, fostering a spirit of love and community.
Linda had a passion for caring for her family, and she took immense joy in nurturing her grandchildren. Her selflessness, warmth, and ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved were hallmarks of her character. Whether it was through a kind word, a warm meal, or a heartfelt hug, Linda’s presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around her.
Linda was the cherished daughter of Ernest Smith and Eileen Miles. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Smith; her mother, Eileen Davis; her step-father, Tyree Davis; her beloved grandmother, Loucille Medley (Pete); and her brothers, Tyree Davis, Dale Davis, and Michael Davis.
Her legacy is carried on by her spouse, Russell Galbreath; her loving children, Demetrius Simon (Phyllis) and Lindara Galbreath, and her treasured grandchildren, Christopher Simpson, Krislin Simpson, and Phillip Simon. Linda is also survived by her siblings, Ernest Smith (Janice), Ricky Davis (Jackie), Shirley Davis, and Johnell Davis; along with her brother-in-law, Kenneth Galbreath (Rose), and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will forever hold her memory dear.
