Linda Rosetta Howard was born on August 30th, 1955 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Oliver Sylvester Neal and Rosetta Howard. In 1959 Linda and Family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she attended and graduated from William M. Raines High School and continued her education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) receiving her degree in Political Science.
Linda was the first Black female intern at the Public Defender Office in Jacksonville, Florida. She was employed with Lutheran Social Services for many years and later employed with the Health Department of Jacksonville, Florida where she retired after 17 years for health reasons.
At an early age Linda received and Christ at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor S. A. Thomas. She later joined St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor E. L. Murray, Sr. She was a faithful member of District #6 (Deacon Evans, Leader) and also a member of the Mass Choir. Linda enjoyed worshiping, serving and fellowshipping with her church family and friends.
On Monday, November 25, 2019, Linda was called home to rest. There to greet her was her father Oliver Neal; and her son, Brandon Brinson. She is now at peace.
Linda leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her memories, her mother, Rosetta Howard; one and only sister, Helen Ward (Deacon Marvin); devoted nieces and nephews, Stephanie Ryans, Stacie Telfair, Natalie Telfair, Tamara Telfair, David Ward (Jinelle) and Alicia Ward; devoted companion, Thomas Brinson; best friend, Jerisha Odom; caregiver and friend, Delores Jones; and a host of other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
