Lisa Renee Edwards, 57, of Jacksonville, Florida transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Lisa was born on August 6, 1965, in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of Carolyn Solomon Johnson and Thomas Emmanuel Edwards. She was the eldest of three children.
Lisa accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at AME Church of the Master by Revered Michael Mitchell with continued tutelage under Reverend Karl V. Smith. She graduated from William M. Raines High School.
With no formal training, Lisa was a gifted chef who blessed many with her culinary skills. She held managerial dietary positions in the public schools and healthcare industry, at The Bolles School, and Harts Harbor Rehabilitation Center.
However, her true joy was her catering service, “The Family Business.” Lisa was the epitome of hard work, resilience and dedication. Although she had physical challenges, she remained steadfast and dedicated to working, cooking, and caring for her family and friends.
In her leisure time, Lisa had a passion for reading, creative writing and listening to her favorite music. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and usually had a houseful of grandchildren and godchildren surrounding her. Lisa’s wit was impressive and memorable. She had a knack for ‘reading’ people and ‘telling it like it is’ that made all who were blessed with her presence praise her gifts. Lisa is predeceased by her father, Thomas Emmanuel Edwards; grandparents, Walter Solomon, Sr., Helen Solomon, Hezekiah Smith, and Lillie Mae Smith; and uncles, Ernell Solomon and Sylvester Solomon.
To cherish her memory, as they cherished her life, Lisa is survived by her children, Jessica Edwards Whitley (Don) of New Orleans, Devin Edwards, Sr. and Lauren Maxwell of Jacksonville. A legacy of love, kindness, and gems of wisdom she leaves to her nine grandchildren, Antonio, Trenton, Autumn, Denver, Devin Jr., Ethan, Evan, Laurence, and Eden. She was a blessing to her family, mother, Carolyn Solomon Johnson; sister, Tonya Edwards; brother, Duane Johnson; uncles, Walter Solomon, Jr. (Diane), and Kenneth Solomon (Sandra); aunt, Cynthia Glover (Larry); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Connie Nevings, her cherished special friend and godchildren, Derek, Idiyah, Jayce and Joseph.
