Lonnie Gaskins was born October 28, 1928, in Sanderson, Florida, to the late McKinley and Nellie Gaskins.
Lonnie lived in Sanderson his entire life. As a child, Lonnie took great joy working with his father on their farm. As an adult, Lonnie worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad (now CSX) for forty years as a trackman. After retirement, he started gardening again in his leisure time.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Donaldson-Gaskins; and his daughter, Shirley Gaskins-Boston (Willie, Sr).
Lonnie is survived by his five children, Jonathan Gaskins, Sr. (Annie), Ronnie Gaskins, Dianne Gaskins-Thompson (Sidney), Beverly Gaskins, and Kerry Gaskins; his siblings, Reverend Richard Gaskins, Eartha Lee Gaskins and Mozell Gaskins; his sixteen grandchildren, Tina Gaskins-Shannon (Levi), Chinell Gaskins-Turner (A.J.), Kimberly Gaskins-Curl (Sharmand), JoAnna Gaskins, Jonathan Gaskins, Jr. (Lauren), Noah Boston, Tammy Boston, Willie Boston, Jr., Quincy Gaskins, Chasity Gaskins, Michelle Parker-McGriff, Sidneia Renea Thompson, Rosa LeAnn Thompson-Knight (Maurice), Kelvin Gaskins, Alex Gaskins, and Eric Gaskins; nineteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other mournful relatives and friends.
