Lucette Colimon Desir, affectionately known by many as “Manlise,” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 83, at Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lucette was born on August 23, 1941, in Grand Saline, Haiti, to the late Maurice Colimon and Jesula Charles. She was a devoted mother, cherished sister, and beloved friend.
She is survived by her sister Jacqueline Moore and her brother Joseph Colimon. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Diogene Joseph Benjamin Desir, sister Josette Colimon Gourgue and brother Henock Colimon.
Lucette, or “Manlise” to those who knew and loved her best, was known for her vibrant, warm, and spirited personality. Her love for her family and her unwavering faith in God defined her life. She welcomed everyone with open arms and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her honesty—always delivered with love—was a gift that shaped those around her.
Her strong and generous heart touched many, especially her family, whom she held dear above all else. A devout Christian and faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Lucette professed her faith in Christ from an early age and lived her life according to that deep spiritual conviction. She often encouraged others to cultivate their own relationship with the Lord, firmly believing that all things were possible through Christ.
Lucette leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. She is survived by her children: sons Yves Dierry Desir, Smyrno Desir, and Donald Desir; daughters Josiane Desir Newman and Lucette Desir. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Destiny S., Adrian W., Calah N., Tia W., Janiya W., Isaac N., Jeremiah D., Edgerrin W., and Kayden D.
Additionally, she is mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Lucette’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
