Lucile Smith Johnson was born on February 4, 1936, to the union of Clarence Smith and Elizabeth Clark in Ocilla, Georgia. Lucile received her formal education in Erwin County School District, where she graduated high school. She relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she met and united in marriage to her longtime companion Johnny Lee Johnson, Jr. for 57 years. This union was blessed with six children. Johnny preceded her in death on April 16, 2022.
Lucile talents were many as she was an accomplished domestic worker for over 48 years. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved cooking, sewing, and reading. Lucile served on the church’s hospitality committee and the usher board until her health began to decline. She was loved so well and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She quietly departed this life on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny L. Johnson Jr.; parents, Clarence and Elizabeth; one sister, Louise Altman; two brothers, Earlie Smith and Willie James Smith; a son, Terry Lee Randolph; and a daughter, Carrie Bell Johnson.
Her beautiful life memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: one son, Vinson Randolph Sr.; three daughters, Laura Wheeler, Christine Pender (Horace), and Wanda Johnson; fourteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; ten great great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerome Johnson (Thelma); five sisters-in-law, Eula Bronner, Shirley Peters, Rosie Jackson, Minnie Manuel, and Johnnie Mae Thomas; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, devoted relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
