Luther Poole, 74, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025. He was born and raised in Cordele, Georgia, and graduated from A.S. Clark High School, Class of 1968. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy.
Throughout his life, Luther held various roles, including manager positions at Firestone, a local radio station, and Church’s Chicken. He was also part-owner of Dale’s Appliances for a time.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Solomon Poole and Mrs. Fannie Mae Tomblin; his brother, John Dale Tomblin; and his sister, Louise Buckles.
He is survived by his children, Torrell Poole and Tabitha Poole, both of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Ky’Ron Battle, Sr. and Ky’la Poole; great-grandchildren, Gianni, Gia, Layken, Marley, Sky, Karti, Kyanna, and Ky’Ron II. He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Riley and Jean Tomblin of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Tommy Tomblin (Gloria) of Warner Robins, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Tamela Johnson, Tracey Joseph of Warner Robins, Geogria), Tuesday Martin (Derrick) of Houston, Texas, Cassandra Reed (Devell) of Royce City, Texas, Deatra Johnson, Kimberly Gilmore both of Jacksonville, Florida, Wendy Foreman (Ernest) of Aiken, South Carolina, and Todd Tomblin of Warner Robins, Georgia; goddaughters, Sabrina Wilcox of Jacksonville, Florida and Titecia Sheneick Caldwell of Dallas, Texas; godbrother, Gus Williams (Yvette) of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of extended family and friends.
Luther enjoyed bowling, fishing, and cheering on his favorite team—the Georgia Bulldogs. He will be remembered by those who knew him in their own special way.
