Mary Alice Jones of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024. She was born on March 3, 1944 to the late Mary Asby Smith and Joe Smith, Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended local public schools graduating from Stanton Senior High School.
She later married the late Robert L. Jones and to that union was blessed with two children, a daughter, Malinda and a son, Anthony.
Mary Alice professional life included working as a seamstress and in the private sector as a Salesperson for Barton and Slides.
While Mary Alice gave her life to Christ, she pursued the calling placed on her life and became a devoted minister of the gospel. Through her evangelism many souls were led to Christ. She dove into acquiring biblical knowledge to fulfill the hunger and thirst she had for righteousness. She loved the Lord!
Mary Alice adored her children. She was proud of their accomplishments and was grateful for their unconditional love. Over the years, they repaid her love and care for them in both words and deeds.
Mary Alice was blessed with a son-in-law, Tommie; daughter-in-law, Paulette; and grandson, Deyonn. Mary Alice was happy when visitors brought her something special to eat. She loved fried chicken, shrimp fired rice, potato chips, saltine crackers and all sorts of sweets but not chocolate.
Mary Alice leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Malinda Green (Tommie); her son, Anthony Jones (Paulette); grandson, Deyonn Boyken; brother, Joe Smith, Jr. (Joyce); sisters, Lucinda L. Lance (Curtis), Carolyn E. Spears (Edward), and Marilyn R. Reeves (Barry); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alphonso Smith, John Smith and Freddie Smith; and sisters, Jannie McCauley and Carrie Raines.
