Mary Harper of Jacksonville, Florida was born on March 26, 1921 in Waverly, Alabama to the late Charlie and Paralee Harper. Mary had a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church since November 1941. She severed for several years as President of the Choir, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, member of Usher Board #2, and member of Junior Mission. She attended the Baptist Convention as a Representative of the Church, and served as a Chairperson of Women’s Day activities, Pastor Birthday Celebration and multiple banquets at Mount Sinai.
Mary had a kind and amiable heart and was a caregiver for many. She received her early education in the State of Alabama. She later obtained her High School Diploma in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon graduation she received her certification as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. Mary continued her career as a CNA until she retired from Riverside Hospital.
Mary enjoyed traveling and her favorite sport was baseball as she enjoyed attending professional baseball games with her brother, Charlie Harper, Jr.
Mary went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Paralee Harper; sisters, Lessie, Emma, Gracie and Lucy; brothers, Charlie Jr., Cliff, Willie Mitchell, Frank, Ennis, Tollie, Augusta Hundo and Herbert who passed away as an infant.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her two beautiful daughters, Debbie Davis of Norfolk, VA and Kaynn (Doll) Davis-Hill (Lewis) of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, La'Keysha Maria Jones, Tommy Gardner (Takeisha), Kaynn Goodman and Nnamdi Davis; three great grandchildren, De'Keerah Lewis, Jayden Goodman and Teigan Gardner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
