Mary Francis Mungen Jameson departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was a resident of Jacksonville, Florida and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Mary was born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1935 to Doane Martin Mungen, Jr. and Isabell Johnson-Mungen. She was reared in Jacksonville after the death of her father by her loving grandparents, Doane Martin Mungen, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Mungen, a devoted aunt, Sylvia Amanda Mungen; and four uncles, Thomas Mungen, Samual Mungen, Allen Dave Mungen, and Alexander Pompey Mungen.
She married Ernest Lee Jameson and they were the parents of Noel Martin Jameson and Damon Quentin Jameson. Other surviving dear ones are daughter-in-law, Lise; granddaughters, Nicole Marie Prim (James) and Rene Amanda LaPointe Jameson.
An author and historian, Mary’s first book in copyright is entitled Manhattan Beach: The Last Stand as Told by Mary Mungen Jameson. This book was completed in 1998. 1996 through 2005 was devoted to working on her second book in copyright entitled Remembering the East Side Neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida: Oakland, Campbell’s Addition, East Jacksonville, and Fairfield-The African-American Influence.
Mary also leaves to mourn, nieces, Donna Mungen, Nicole Reece, Eleanor Mitchell-Chaney, Trixie Bracy-Andrews, Thelma Moore Hall, and Gloria Moultry Jones; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
