Ms. Mary Alice Ledbetter was born on January 30, 1953 to Sarah Magdalene Stokes and Thomas Williams in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the local schools of Duval County gradating from Samuel W. Wolfson High School.
Mary was an outgoing, fun and loving spirit. She loved her kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren to the fullest. She enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1972 after birthing her first born, Trenea. During her journey through the military she birthed Carlon Sanders, Paul Sanders and then Jamis Sanders all while fulfilling her duties as a E-5 Sergeant.
The military propelled Mary to uphold those strong morals she needed to endure becoming an Air National Guardsmen. With that being said, her journey with Christ and bearing two more kids, Sierra Campbell-Joes and Jarvis Williams would be an honor for her. Mary would love and care for people just like second nature. She carried on that loving caretaking trait into the healthcare field as a CAN after an honorable discharge from the military in 1985.
Mary’s journey in the healthcare field was remarkable. She cared and assisted people until God called her home. Even after Mary’s departure she saved two lives by being a honorable organ donor saving life after death, “The Honorable Mary Alice Ledbetter-Williams”.
Mary Alice Ledbetter went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 12:09pm. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Sanders; parents, Sarah Stokes and Thomas Williams; and siblings, John O. Stokes, Leroy Stokes and Patricia Ward.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Trenea Sanders, Carlon Sanders, Jamis Sanders, Jarvis Williams and Sierra Jones; grandchildren, Keith Mays, Chris Mays, Jamilah Shuford, Japaul Sanders, Jameisha Nelson and Peyton Fussell; brother, Nathan Stokes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
