Mary Stewart Mitchell

Mary Stewart Mitchell was born on November 7, 1925, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida to the late Robert Stewart, Sr. and Irene McDuffie Stewart. She was one of fourteen children born to this union. God called her home on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age and devoted her life to various ministries God planned for her. She deeply touched the lives of her family, friends, and many others during her life journey.

During Mary's early years she lived in Harlem, New York for 17 years. She supported and cared for many families as a domestic engineer and caretaker.

Mary returned to the Jacksonville Beach, Florida area and continued her ministry as a domestic engineer and caretaker. She was extremely devoted to her career and was highly sought after by multi-millionaires to take care of their families and homes. She worked diligently unto the Lord with a spirit of excellence. 

Mary was devoted to her church (New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church) where she was a member of the choir and loved to cook for the various Pastors that led the church for over 50 years. She also assisted the Helping Hands Ministry to support families in need.

Mary leaves to cherish precious memories, her last living sister, Nell J. Coleman; and a host of nieces and nephews, specifically her niece, Velcie Lee who was her caretaker and closest confidant during her time of need.
